Seaway 7 is pleased to announce the newly-converted Seaway Phoenix has successfully installed its first inner array grid cable in Taiwan.
Managing Director, Seaway 7 Offshore Cables, Renier van den Bichelaer said: “The addition of Seaway Phoenix to our fleet reflects the growing demand for our services, and doubles our capacity for inner array grid cable installations in the fast-growing offshore wind market. This provides clients with additional flexibility and allows us to serve multiple international locations simultaneously.
“Seaway Phoenix replicates our well renowned cable lay vessel, Seaway Aimery. Incorporating years of knowledge and experience, the vessel has been designed to maximise safety and efficiency and is fitted with a new cable-lay system and modern equipment. Like Seaway Aimery, Seaway Phoenix can operate safely in significant wave heights of up to three metres, reducing weather delays and providing clients with greater schedule security.”
A new cable lay system, comprising two carrousels with a total capacity of 4,000t, has been installed. The unique cable handling system includes Human Machine Interface, controlled linear cable engines, turntables and a cable deployment bow system in a climate-controlled working hangar to shelter crew. Additionally, the vessel has been equipped with modern equipment including two work-class ROVs and one trenching ROV, inclusive of associated launch and recovery systems.
