Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm Project

In 2018 Seaway 7 was awarded the contract for the turnkey engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning (EPIC) works related to the inner array grid and export cable system of the Offshore Wind Farm Yunlin project. The offshore wind farm Yunlin is located approx. 8 km off the coast of Yunlin County within the Taiwan Strait on the west coast of Taiwan. The OWF consists of 80 wind turbine generators, each with a capacity of 8 MW and is based on an inner array grid and export cable system of 81 66 kV aluminium core submarine composite cables with a total length of up to 272 km. The submarine cable system is installed by utilising dedicated in-house resources such as Cable Lay Vessel Seaway Aimery and Installation Support Vessel Seaway Moxie.

Assets and Worksites The project is managed from the Seaway 7 branch office in Taiwan to ensure smooth operational execution with support from the Germany Seaway 7 office. Cable fabrication is divided between Japan and Korea. Seaway Aimery and Seaway Moxie are supported by a several local vessels to perform the various works offshore on the Taiwanese west coast.

Technology & Innovation

In addition to the inner array grid cable installation works, Seaway 7 will also install the landfall / export cable system. Hereby Seaway 7 will use horizontal directional drilling to install dedicated conduits.

In order to ensure a smooth operational execution, Seaway 7 has established dedicated onshore facilities and has entered into local partnerships to allow for the transfer of knowledge and to assist in the development of local capabilities.
